Creating Together!

The minister who supported "Knit One, Heal Too!" in the beginning is leaving to go to a new church in Minnesota. While we are not a group that is affiliated to any one faith, we felt it would be appropriate to show our appreciation to someone who believes in our project of craft and community.

We are each creating 8"X8" squares which will be crocheted together by Steph. It will make a very long vestment shawl, as we have 16 squares promised.

Check in and see how we're doing. We have to have it finished by April 25th. The last eight squares will be turned in tonight.

We are writing our individual thoughts to present with the shawl. In addition, we will pass the shawl around and give our individual blessings, do a reading, and have a group blessing before we hand it over to Reverand Pat Williamson.

More photos to come tomorrow.

About K1H2!

"Knitting is the simplest and most ordinary of activities, yet somehow it mysteriously contains within itself the potential for expanding our conscious awareness."
Susan Gordon Lydon

We are a knitting group in Cincinnati, Ohio that knits prayer/healing shawls for those in need of a nurturing hug during times of illness, grief, loss, and major life changes. In addition, we knit hats and scarves for children at Winton Hills Academy, and baby blankets to celebrate new life.

This is a spiritually based knitting group. We are open to ALL FAITHS AND LIFESTYLES. The only requirements are: a belief in prayer, a desire to create, a need to give back, a longing for community, and a good sense of humor. This is a group that loves to laugh.

If you don't know how to knit, we'll teach you. If income is limited, we can help. We will have yarn to give or sell at a reduced price, and needles to lend. If you can afford to buy your own yarn, we strongly encourage it. We will provide patterns for prayer/healing shawls to everyone... or bring your own.

Each shawl and baby blanket is labeled with a woven prayer label that contains the following prayer:

THE PRAYER FOR PROTECTION
The light of God surrounds you.
The love of God enfolds you.
The Power of God protects you.
The Presence of God watches over you.
Wherever you are, God is . . . .and All is well.

Our group was founded with a grant from Bread for the Journey that allows us to provide supplies to attend our weekly gatherings . In addition we make a small profit from the supplies we sell. Donations of yarn, needles, money are gratefully accepted. New Thought Unity Center has provided us with the comfortable space to meet each week.

Do you know of someone going through illness? Someone who has experienced a loss? Please contact us.

The group meets weekly on Tuesday, 6-9 pm at the Spiritual Practice Center, behind New Thought Unity Center, 1401 East McMillan Avenue, in East Walnut Hills. Parking is available in the St. Ursula lot between the Academy & NTUC.
